Historical and cultural study
Before starting any rehabilitation project, it is necessary to know all the constructive, structural and cultural aspects of the building. Once this knowledge is available, the restoration can be undertaken. A historic building built with traditional techniques houses a series of values that must be preserved, and that make it easier for us to choose the restoration techniques to use.
This historical study can be carried out through a photographic survey and the compilation of old photos. In the case of this home we had the pleasure of meeting the relatives who inherited this property, and they shared with us all their knowledge, memories, ways of living and stories that have been passed down from generation to generation. This made it easier for us to travel in time and imagine experiences lived in each space.
Constructive and material survey
Irregularities and deformations must be drawn very precisely because they help us understand the historical evolution and pathologies of the building.
Study of pathologies
It consists of the detection, identification and study of the building's pathologies that allow us to know its state of conservation necessary for the correct choice of construction techniques.
Material Compatibility
The new materials to be used in the rehabilitation must be compatible with the original construction of the building. It is essential to choose light and breathable materials to avoid condensation.
