INTEGRAL REFURBISHMENT IN JAVEA

This Mediterranean house transformation in Javea has consisted of working with sensitivity of interpretation and structural modification, trying to make its intervention useful and attractive. The typology of modulated country house has been respected in spaces on an orthogonal grid. This condition has been refined and at the same time a contemporary programme has been introduced.

The exterior image has been given a larger scale, maintaining the original essence. The building is organised into two floors with a patio. This patio is now more present in the spaces of the house. On the ground floor there is the entrance and the day area, and also the guest area. The first floor accommodates the private area. The access is modernized and gives way to a pasarela and a double height staircase, redefining the relationship with the access and directly connecting the day area with the more private one. The circulations of the original building are redefined giving rise to a completely new distribution, where the spaces flow.

STRUCTURE

The original structure of the building is resolved by means of structural walls. The new layout has led to a strong structural intervention and the creation of large openings in the load-bearing walls. The double height has led to the demolition of the roof, as well as the demolition of the load-bearing wall in this area. This is how this circulation space is created, which distributes the public and private spaces and provides orientation from the first moment one enters the house.

 

 

 

EXTENTION

 

The extension consisted of using aerated concrete blocks as a lightweight element with high thermal input. On the first floor the extension consists of the studio in the most private part of the house. It has a large window with an intentional and studied inclination, oriented to the Montgó, to achieve the best views, a look towards the tranquility from the work space.

ENERGY EFFICIENCY 

 

The facade has been insulated with a thermal insulation system on the exterior side of the walls, among other notable actions, this has contributed to the optimization of energy certification
